In Sanskrit the meaning of the GURU (GU = Darkness, RU
= Light) is a spiritual teacher or saint who brings his/her
disciple from darkness of the ignorance to the light of the knowledge.
In Hindu tradition the birthday of the Bhagawan Vyasa is celebrated as Guru Purnima
on the full moon day in the month of Ashada (July-August). Bhagawan Vyasa compiled
Vedas into four parts Rig-Veda, Yajur-Veda, Sama-Veda and Atharva-Veda. He also
composed 18 Puranas so that the common people could also get benefited from the
knowledge of Vedas.
The Guru is infinite and available to us as finite in a living body. A char coal
does not glow by itself. Nor does the matchstick know, how to strike itself and
create fire. ‘Some 0ne’, the enlightened one, who knows, needs to guide and teach
how to strike the stick? You may be a surgeon, but you can not operate on yourself.
You may be a specialist masseur, but you can not massage yourself. A Guru is like
the ocean. You can use it for many purposes. Some can just sit and watch, one can
bathe, or surf, or do fishing, or deep sea diving, or hunt treasures, or do pearl
diving. Or could go on a voyages. Choice is yours. The Guru is ready to take all
your junk, and make gold from your junk. For, it is through his grace and guidance
alone that one reaches the highest state of wisdom and bliss. My salutations to
the Guru who is present embodiment of Brahma, Vishnu and Maheswara. The Guru is
Parambrahma incarnate"

On the day of Guru Purnima the Guru initiates his/her disciple into the unique process
of spiritual practices. The moon shines by reflecting the blazing light of the sun,
similarly the disciple becomes enlightened by the grace of the Guru.
Our Guru is Mahavatar Kalpa Yogi Babaji. Through the teachings of Kriya Yoga, Babaji
has brought salvation and God realization to millions around the world. We bow to
our Guru Gyanswami, who has had the blessings and is a direct disciple of Mahavatar
Babaji. Guru Gyanswami has devoted his life to the cause of Babaji. We as disciples
are blessed to be the chosen ones for this cause. What is the cause, we may not
know. But we do know that it is His grace, because of which we are together today.
Through this Dwapar Yuga, Babaji is preparing us. May we, through our work and practices.
be worthy to our Guru and Babaji.
