Whenever Gyanswami was not to be seen anywhere for long, his grand father would
find him sitting under the Banyan tree located far away from their house.
At the
age of nine he made a place of meditation on the branches of a Neem tree located
in the Brahmsthan of the village. No body could locate him where he was and he used
to meditate there for hours. Many saints used to come to meet him. Some of them
wanted to take Bhiksha (Alms) through his hands only. Father Thakur Raghunandan
Singh and mother Smt Paodhari Devi arranged every thing for him as he is the eldest
of the four brothers. (Other brothers are: Kirtyanand Singh, Hridyanand Singh and
Dayanand Singh. Kitryanand is in Indian Air Force while other two are in police
services.)
He topped at matriculation examination from Bihar School Exam Board .
While studying in Patna Science College he used to practice very advance Yogic Sadhana
without learning from any Guru , just by browsing information from different books
of various writers. He suffered a very serious heart problem in 1966 and doctors
declared that he would survive only for a few months. This was a turning point in
his life. By the grace of Babaji he was saved after he learnt some special Yoga
techniques.
Further he joined Bihar College of Engineering Patna. This college is
situated at banks of the river Ganges. He would go to Gandhi Ghat in the middle
of night and meditate by sitting near the waves of the water of the Ganges. Many
times dead bodies would come floating near him while he was engrossed in his Sadhana.
As he now tells us, "I could see the astral bodies of those souls and used to talk
to them." That was a wonderful experience for him.
In the summer of 1967 a great
event took place. He got in touch of the
great
Swami Vivekananda.At that time he
was spending his summer
holidays in his Godfather Dr B D Sharma's residence in Raipura.
Swamiji (Swami Vivekananda) would come almost daily in his astral
body and teach
Gyan swami many things about the other world. Life
after death was narrated by him
to Gyan; it was just like the details
given by Swami Yukteswar Giri to Swami Yogananda Paramahansa
as told in the Autobiography of a Yogi (at that time Gyan had not
studied
that book). Swamiji taught Gyan many secret Yoga techniques.
This lasted for about
three years. (The details of all these great events
will be given by him in his
forthcoming book "Journey Towards Enlightenment).
When Gyan was in the third year
of engineering Mahavatar Babaji appeared in his room and gave him many works to
do. It was a great day when Babaji came in the presence of Rajani Kant (s/o Dr B
D Sharma) who was a medical student at that time.
After talking for sometime Babaji
vanished. After getting his degree in engineering Gyan left for the Himalayas where
he stayed for about two and half years and met many great saints. He was directed
by them to teach ancient science of yoga without charging any money as the so called
Yogis have commercialized Yoga these days. Similar blessings were given to him in
person by Shree Sai Baba, Anandmoi Ma, Shree J Krishnamurthy, Osho, Shree Devraha
Baba.
Gyan Swami worked in M/S Balaju Yantra Shala (a joint firm of SATA of Switzerland
and NIDC of Nepal) Kathmandu, Nepal for more than two years. There he was getting
the divine love of his Dharm Bhai Bodhisatava Swami Anand Arun the founder of Tapoban
Ashram. Then he joined Telco Jamshedpur in 1977. By the blessing of Babaji Shree
Hari Shankar Varma and his wife Shmt Shail Varma started treating Gyan Swami as
their own son. Their two sons Shri Jivan Jyoti Varma (at present a very senior officer
in Indian Navy) and Shri Amal Varma (now head of HR in an M.N.C.) also accepted
him as their elder brother and even today they treat him like this.
Many times Shree
Hari Shankar Varma and Gyan Swami used to meditate together. One day both were discussing
some spiritual matters ,about immortality of the SOUL. Suddenly Gyan Swami told,
" Pappaji, suppose I die first then I will come to you in astral body and if you
die first then you will come to me to tell that you are still existing even after
leaving they physical body"
After retirement Mr Varma shifted from Jamshedpur to
Ranchi. During one night Gyan Swami heard Mr Varma calling him loudly three times.
He got up from his bed to look from where the voice was coming. Then he realized;
"Oh ! it seems pappaji has left his body and he had come to me to keep his words!
In the morning the news of his death came. He had expired last night.
After getting
permission from his Guru he got married to Ms Saroj Singh, daughter of a very famous
Thakur family of Aligarh. After ten month of marriage he was blessed by a son "Gyanesh".
This was his first and last issue. Henceforth he started leading a life of a Himalayan
Yogi. Wife Saroj helps him in Sadhana in all possible ways. The family is symbol
of love and peace.
The house where he lives is full of spiritual energy. It is told
that the house is visited by highly elevated astral souls and this can be felt while
sitting there in the meditation hall.
Gyan Swami is a working Sanyasi. He earns
his own livelihood. He believes that a Sanyasi should not be a burden on the society.
He works as a Chief Manager with RSB Transmissions (I) Ltd Pune. RSB Group, founded
in 1975 in Jamshedpur, by R. K. Behera and S. K. Behera as International Auto, is
one of the leading Indian engineering and automotive components manufacturing business
houses. The Group’s core capabilities range from design to manufacturing of aggregates
and systems related to commercial vehicles, passenger cars, construction, farm equipments
and a wide variety of automotive and off-highway equipments. The core products of
the Group are propeller shaft, transmission systems, gears, axles, engine components,
construction equipment aggregates, trailers and trailer kits.
The vision of RSB
Group is “To be amongst the most admired organizations with a significant global
presence”. What makes RSB Group so different from others is the unique blend of
ambition and benevolent values the founder members bring in to bear and the gradual
institutionalization of these values across the Group. The Group is fiercely ambitious
to become a global enduring institution that will continually reinvent from within
to adapt to the changing conditions and transcend time and yet strongly advocates
and practices the time tested humane values of empowerment and enrichment of all
stakeholders, environment compatibility, sustainable development and corporate social
responsibility.
For Gyan Swami, RSB Group is an institution where karma yoga meets
dharma yoga. He derives immense pleasure from working with such an organization
and truly walks the talk of being a karma yogi.
When he delivers lectures he says
that he does not speak himself but he surrenders his voice and throat to his Guru
and his master takes over. Many times some advance Sadhakas have seen some saint
standing in astral body with white gown behind him while he speaks in trans, at
that time he starts giving examples from ancient scriptures in Sanskrit where as
in normal stage he cannot remember all those things.
Till date thousands of Sadhakas
have met him from India and abroad and received solace in his presence. He says
that "Very soon the Light of Kriya Yoga given by Mahavatar Babaji through Shree
Lahiri Mahashaya, Swami Yukteswar Giri and Swami Yogananda Paramahansa will illuminate
the whole world. They have given us the path of everlasting life, all are invited
to join this journey towards enlightenment. Just enlightenment and nothing less
than that. Gyanswami respects all the saints who are spreading the art of Kriya
Yoga. He loves all the teachers of Yogoda Satsang Society, Swami Kriyanand of AnandNiketan
and Swami Hariharanand. In fact in his lectures and writings he quotes them with
very high respect and regards. He wants that all the saints of Kriya Yoga should
come under one roof and work together under the guidance of Mahavatar Babaji.
Gyan
swami leads a very simple and egoless life. Many people adore him with mala, coconuts
and aarati etc and some also abuse him for making BrahmVidya so easily available
to common people; Gyanswami loves all of them with equal affection.
